I have to admit I have been slightly disappointed with the Couture collections so far... Well not disappointed exactly, maybe just underwhelmed?
Then came Riccardo Tisci and his Givenchy collection.
Tisci knows how to make a woman look good; his dresses fit the body like a second skin.
They have such air to them that it would seem they are not wearing anything at all.
The clothes take on a supernatural quality, while white is the colour of innocence you get a sense that the clothes harbor a little darkness, a bit of mystery to say the least.
I love that he didn’t feel the need to over do the eccentricity of it all.
The craftsmanship of the garments is exquisite; lacework, beading, hand-cut silk and angelic pure white feathers. The use of gold thread makes me think of this as a company of Greek goddesses, all angel-like and serene but ready to strike at a moments notice.
