NZFW Day 3: Lessons that Fashion Week taught me.

Day 2(technically 3) of NZFW was a good day, a long day, but a good one nonetheless. I died over the shoes at RUBY, snapped the beautiful people, photoshopped/wrote some shit(good shit) and learnt 5 new lessons:

LIAM/RUBY Front Row.

Lesson 9: Not everyone is awake small hours of the morning. Some people are normal and asleep by 12pm... Refrain from txting those people.

Lesson 10: Chiffon belt/trains are curiously alluring.

Lesson 11: Taxi drivers will never know where they are going and when they do they will always go THE LONGEST WAY POSSIBLE.

Lesson 12: Fashion people enjoy being papped. Even when you think they can't see you they can and even when they think you don't notice their sudden change into the: capture-my-good-side stance. YOU CAN.

See this dude in the blue socks? He knows he's being papped.
Wedge Heels to get me through...

Lesson 13: Running in wedge heels is surprisingly easy. However, make no mistake you will still look like a noob.

I just realised I have been watching Miley Cyrus prance around on E! channel for the last hour. I think I can feel my brain melting!

MELTING.

More lessons to come!!!!! (I know you're excited).

NZFW day 2: Lessons that Fashion week taught me

A full day of fashion fantasticalness occurred today at the Viaduct Events Center and as promised, here are todays lessons that Fashion Week taught me (continued):

Offending candy and spotty umbrella.
Lesson 4: In Auckland, you will always need an umbrella. When at fashion week you cannot afford to rock up with your face dripping wet and your hair plastered to your head.

Lesson 5: Don't eat the free BLUE candy in the gift bags. Blue lollies = Blue mouth = Not the most attractive smile.

Side note: Takeaway coffee and lipstick make for one slutty cup.
COOP goodie bag: Nail polish, chocolate & Vodka.

Lesson 6: If you have a weak bladder don't wear an outfit that requires you to TUCK IN YOUR SHIRT. The amount of time I wasted tucking and untucking...

Lesson 7: The 2nd Row is the worst row. Even if you feel more important, you cant see a fricken thing.

Lesson 8: Fashion loves Vodka.

Today I consumed a serious amount of caffeine: 3 long blacks and 1 (5dollar!!) Redbull. So, once again it is 12.13AM and I am wide awake (told you that lesson would go unlearnt).
While today morning met me at the leisurely time of 8.30AM, tomorrow will begin a little earlier in order to make it to the RUBY morning show!

Lessons 8 through 11 tomorrow!

NZFW

Today was the official beginning to fashion week... by official I mean the launch party was tonight, really the madness begins tomorrow. I have decided to do a daily post during NZFW about 'the lessons NZFW teaches you' because, as it is my first NZFW experience, there are sure to be many.

See that? I am a fash hag hehe

Today was rather a non-event as all I did was pick up my Media Registration pack along with all the other media/buyers/photographers but I think I can pull a few lessons out...

Lesson 1: If in doubt, go and grab a coffee. I arrived bang on 1PM to the registration (because I am cool like that) only to find that they were running a little behind schedule. So, instead of milling around the entrance looking like a confused tourist/fashion geek I went and grabbed a coffee. That way I looked l totally relaxed and breezed into the delegates line like I new exactly what I was doing.

Lesson 2: Don't wear clompy shoes across the new bridge-walkway. As soon as I took a step onto the bridge I felt like a giant elephant. Even over my ipod (may or may not have been Kanye/Jay Z) I could hear this massive CLANG as I walked. Great way to make normal, sensibly shoed people stare.

Lesson 3: Pack flats. I pretty much ruined my feet today walking ALL OVER TOWN in my fashion-week-appropriate shoes. Seriously I walked from the ferry building to Uni to the Viaduct Events Center to Britomart LesMills to Other City LesMills. = Feet dead.

Another potential lesson could be don't drink 2 coffees and a V because it will get to 12.11AM and you will still be wide awake.
But I think that one will go un-learnt as I will be throwing back as many of said beverages as I can to get me through the rest of the week. (Non sleepyness could also be because I am SUPER EXCITED!!!!!)

More lessons tomorrow!

LEGS, BOOBS, LEGS, HAIR, HAIR, TEETH.

Pedestrian Daily did a piece on ZU Spring Summer 11/12 Campaign staring Erin McNaught.
I was going to write something but what they said is too true:

No matter how many times beauty pageant people say that beauty pageants are about inner beauty just as much as they are about outer beauty, they might as well give up and just shout random words instead - like "LEGS! BOOBS! LEGS! BOOBS! HAIR! HAIR! HAIR! HAIR! HAIR! HAIR! HAIR! TEETH! HAIR!" because all the girls are really really pretty. Erin McNaught was Miss Australia in 2006 and she is a great example of the kind of really really pretty girls that beauty pageants attract. She is the new ambassador of Australian footwear label Zu Shoes who told us they chose her because she is "fun, confident and possesses a stylish edge". Yes. Plus she looks super hot.

Blak: Skin Deep.

I have become slightly obsessed with NZ Label Blak. For those of you who are not familiar with the brand well you should definitely check out their Website if you love easy and well made pieces well then you will fall in love, especially with this Basics collection.
The images above are my favorite outfits from the Basic line, the sheer garments are so lovely and the soft pinks and blues look fantastical with black. I would like ALL of the first outfit, Leather and sheer looks killer!!

The LUXE range is slightly more dark and wild but in a way that is easy to pull off and holds a sexyness that ties in well with fashions new fetish movement

Blak is a label that promotes a certain nonchalance, think parisian cool... Something that almost every girl wants to pull off but rarely can.
I would happily wear Blak top to toe... Fingers crossed, Powerball is 18mill this weekend!

"Florals, for Spring... Groundbreaking."

Spring is almost (well if I am wishfully thinking) upon us. And what do we equate with spring? Yooou guessed it FLOWERS!!
I personally am a fan of a bit of floral when the sun decides to come out, its such a happy print isn't it? That is probably why this time, every year designers come up with some sort of floral element in their collections.

I admit it is a bit cliched, but whatever embrace the cliche! When the sun is shining, the birds are singing and the cold has gone express your inner happiness with some flowers.
Go colourful for day like Dior and darkly mysterious like Chanel for after hours.
