A Perfect Pairing.

 Bright Nights

Brighter than bright neon hues have a new best friend this coming fall. Grey.

I admit, even though I am a HUGE fan of colour, I am already slightly sick of the bright on bright trend that is in command this summer. I guess thats what happens when you live at the bottom of the world. The southern hemisphere sets a trend, the street style blogs/runways/magazines grab hold of it and we, down here in NZ, are tired of it before we even get to try it.

Christopher Kane's Spring 2011 show set the neon movement in motion and now almost every designer from Marc to Marni has something acidic for sale on Netaporter.

Thankfully (and not surprisingly) the fashion pack has found a fresh way to wear those electric pieces. Neon and grey seems to be THE combination for this fall with everyone who's anyone embracing the look. I love this dark on bright pairing, the pop of neon against an otherwise flat pallet is perfection. I don't like black with colour for some reason, if I am wearing black I would rather be in ALL black. Grey is soft where black is hard, I think here black is too jarring.

When Chanel Comes Through

It's all shiny and new again!

Well its traveled a fair way this bag. Soel, London, Paris, London, NZ, Seoul, NZ. Finally I have it back alllllll fixed. The people at Chanel in Seoul were more than helpful and we very happy to send it away to be fitted with a new (and hopefully less fragile) chain... Thanks Chanel! I love you again.

It also came back in this nifty care bag... Bonus!

NOW hopefully this will be the bag that will last me for a lifetime. HOPEFULLY.

New Things From My Favourite City

LONDON LONDON LONDON

To me there is no city like London. Seriously I love everything about it, the buildings, the people, the SHOPPING. (Best high street in the world!). So, as you can imagine I was highly jealous of my parents spending a couple of days there last week.
However my lovely mother did hit the famous high-street for me. And she did GOOD!

Topshop, Cos

As I have mentioned before I LOVE jewellery. These two necklaces are just what I wanted, chunky, heavy and short, they are perfection. I am currently looking for things I can attach to the gold one...

Zara

Even though it is coming into summer and a hat like this one is more likely to keep me warmer rather than cooler, I still couldn't resist is deep mulberry charms. Poor mum had to carry it all the way home so it wouldn't get disfigured. Thanks mum!

Office

Ok, these boots technically belong to mum. BUT I couldn't resist posting a picture because, A. I will most definitely be stealing them on regular occasions and B. They are freaking awesome. (Boy am I glad we share the same shoe size!)

Stars for Eyes

I don't know about you but the universe really interests me.

I find it mental that all that is out there, it's almost too hard to fathom how big the universe is... Does it stop ever? It blows my mind. I mean there MUST be some other form of human-esq beings living up in the stars somewhere.

Anyway, because I have no other way to express my uneducated ideas about the universe, I have developed a serious affliction to all things star-like.

Stars used to be considered slightly tacky as a motif but since D&G did THIS dress the star has been re-born.
(I am totally obsessed with the Matina Amanita rings that I spied at the Ponsonby RUBY store. Especially the one with the moon and the star.)

Why I Love: ACNE Boots

I absolutely positively ADORE each and every boot that comes out of the ACNE studios.

Ankle boots have quickly become my favourite type of shoe. Especially the high ones.
They go with everything and the chunky ones make your legs look nice and coltish.

I love the clean, technical lines and the thick, stacked heel and the rich earthy colours of these ACNE boots.
They just look so damn expensive.

At around $700 a pair they are expensive but totally worth it. Everything about the designs are timeless... These are the kind of boots that are going to get you through the winter, and the summer and basically the rest of your life (within reason). They are INVESTMENT boots.
So there you go justified!!

Hey Santa, I NEED to get me a pair of these.

Current Obsession.

BLUE-GREEN-YELLOW

I am currently obsessed with this colour pallet. I think it may be because I am totally enamored by the sea at the moment. Looking out from my favourite mountain top it is all I see, the greens and the blues that blend with the yellow rays of the sun. It is so quintessentially summer.

These collections: Canadian Amanda Lew Kee and Peter Pilotto's Spring 2012 perfectly combine these colours with amazing kaleidoscope prints (Also obsessed with kaleidoscopic prints).

I would kill for any of these pieces, however I don't exactly have the cash, or credit, to own any of it. So I will have to get my fix in other ways... Here are some of my favourite and affordable things in blue-green-yellow:

Butter London NP, Those dancing days bracelet
Zoe & Morgan ring, Comme-des-Garcons wallets, Lime yellow boxy bag, Chanel NP

The Summer List

It's that time again.

Do I wish I was content with my 2010/11 summer wardrobe? YES.

Is my want for new things an expensive obsession? YES.

Do I care? NOT AT ALL.

Other people might think I'm mental. That it is unessasary for one to need so many things... But then those people aren't that likely to read this.

It's just what fashion is. It is its job is to make you fall in love with every single thing that storms down the runway and I do. I totally buy into this industry and I don't give a shit. Infact I adore it.

With summer looming I have been devouring everything that has been flowing into the stores... Here are some of the things that I have fallen in love with this Summer:

TopShop Aztec Earings, Sass & Bide eyewear, Deadly Ponies bag, AurĂ©lie Bidermann bracelets,
 Deadly Ponies wallet, TopShop bracelet

Zara shopper, Lonely GARDENIA CORNFLOWER BODYSUIT, Pamela Love necklace, Zimmerman bikini.

Anna & Boy bikini, J Crew bracelets, Anna & Boy Trousers, Sass & Bide necklace, Ventidue bag.

Now to justify each purchase...

New things that I love.

I have a bit of an obsession with acquiring jewellery that no one else has.

Some people take pride in customizing their clothing however with my complete lack of sewing skills I, unfortunately do not have that privilege. So, instead, I seek originality in my accessories.

Most of this actually comes from raiding my mums jewellery box... I figured that she never changes her jewellery so why let all the pretty things go to waste?  Actually my absolute favorite ring, and Opal set in a gold band, was given to mum by her first boyfriend. Another is one that was given to her on her 18th birthday, it is Ivory set in silver and the bone has the outline of a Geisha carved into it.

I also love to make new pieces out of old pieces. These arrow earrings used to be on hooks but I think that look is a little dated so I took off the hooks and fastened the rest onto my studs. So easy! And I love this  mix of silver and gold

This is my favorite necklace that I made from an old bracelet and necklace. The brace links used to be a bracelet that had some hideous black elastic threaded through it. I cut that out and then took an old silver chain and linked them together. I wear it almost every day and people often ask where I got it, then proceed to look shocked when I say I made it (not sure if that is a compliment or not..)

Right now big and bold jewellery is a major trend for summer soI am on the look out for things that I can make into some over-the-top statement earrings. I think it's time to visit mothers cupboards again...

It's time to breath a sigh of relief. There are no more essays to write, no more texts to read, everything is over for another year.
