Nick I Need Your Kirkwood

This is the problem with the ease and accessibility of online shopping. They just make it to darn easy to gain access to the most stunning items of clothing that are both incredibly enticing and outrageously expensive.

I was innocently browsing the ‘pre-order’ site Moda Operandi when I came across these Spring 2012 beauties from Nicholas Kirkwood.

Now I am overwhelmed with the desire to acquire (yup) each and every one of them. Obviously it is completely unreasonable for a student to warrant spending thousands of dollars on shoes that may or may not be worn (or appreciated by others). So, until I get a job that can justify such a purchase, I’ll just appreciate them from afar, and possibly from the feet of the more affluent bloggers.

Alice and the Flowers

Last Weekend This Happened

What: Alice and Wonderland themed 21st.
Where: Duder's
When: Saturday Night
Who: Everyone

I had the best time last weekend. 21st parties are great, especially when you get to dress up (and when there are free drinks...)

Thanks the Lane Family!

To get some inspiration for my costume I re-watched the film the other week and basically came to the conclusion that the talking flowers are pretty bad-ass and I must dress up as one. Also I have always fancied dressing up as a total hippy, so that suits.

Justification

I have fallen in love with a t-shirt. Actually I don't even know if you can call it a t-shirt as it is 100% silk and costs more than all my other t-shirts put together (x100).

The t-shirt/top in question is this beautiful, slightly eccentric, blue and white china print one from Preen. I spotted it when I was sifting through the extensive closet that is Net-a-porter.com, a detrimental habit which often leaves me utterly depressed with my own, not so extensive wardrobe.

Anyway I seemed to have attached myself to this $750 (US) top, so much so that I feel that I NEED it in my life. This should be interesting as I don't have the most generous of incomes and will probably have to save forever to come up with the money. Thus a purchase of this caliber, that requires this much work, needs some justification.

Hogan x The Selby x Quentin Jones

Yesterday Dazed digital premiered the first video in a series of collaborative films that take a look at what its like to be young and incredibly creative.

This is an extremely clever marketing ploy from Hogan (a luxury footwear brand) who are using the videos, shot by the massively talented Todd Selby, to celebrate the launch of their new website. This project, titled Future Roots, takes a close look at those young and talented professionals doing their thing in the world of design/art/fashion. Oh and they all do it while wearing Hogan footwear, obviously.

At first I was like, I’m not even caring about the shoes, but then I found myself thinking that I really need some lace up heeled boots to wear with a calf length skirt… Nice one Hogan.
This first film (WATCH IT) profiles a day in the life of illustrator/fashion filmmaker Quentin Jones. This girl is amazing, seriously I want to steal her life: She lives in London, (Best city!) rides to meetings on a bicycle, has an awesome apartment and best of all, makes a living off something that she clearly loves to do. Plus her stuff is brilliant, I LOVE looooove it. (She recently made a film for AnOthermag.com about Victoria Beckham’s S/S12 denim collection.
Quentin's brilliance:

I can’t wait to see the rest of these films, if only too make me more excited about the future… If they can do it so can I! (So inspirational)

A Perfect Pairing.

 Bright Nights

Brighter than bright neon hues have a new best friend this coming fall. Grey.

I admit, even though I am a HUGE fan of colour, I am already slightly sick of the bright on bright trend that is in command this summer. I guess thats what happens when you live at the bottom of the world. The southern hemisphere sets a trend, the street style blogs/runways/magazines grab hold of it and we, down here in NZ, are tired of it before we even get to try it.

Christopher Kane's Spring 2011 show set the neon movement in motion and now almost every designer from Marc to Marni has something acidic for sale on Netaporter.

Thankfully (and not surprisingly) the fashion pack has found a fresh way to wear those electric pieces. Neon and grey seems to be THE combination for this fall with everyone who's anyone embracing the look. I love this dark on bright pairing, the pop of neon against an otherwise flat pallet is perfection. I don't like black with colour for some reason, if I am wearing black I would rather be in ALL black. Grey is soft where black is hard, I think here black is too jarring.

When Chanel Comes Through

It's all shiny and new again!

Well its traveled a fair way this bag. Soel, London, Paris, London, NZ, Seoul, NZ. Finally I have it back alllllll fixed. The people at Chanel in Seoul were more than helpful and we very happy to send it away to be fitted with a new (and hopefully less fragile) chain... Thanks Chanel! I love you again.

It also came back in this nifty care bag... Bonus!

NOW hopefully this will be the bag that will last me for a lifetime. HOPEFULLY.

New Things From My Favourite City

LONDON LONDON LONDON

To me there is no city like London. Seriously I love everything about it, the buildings, the people, the SHOPPING. (Best high street in the world!). So, as you can imagine I was highly jealous of my parents spending a couple of days there last week.
However my lovely mother did hit the famous high-street for me. And she did GOOD!

Topshop, Cos

As I have mentioned before I LOVE jewellery. These two necklaces are just what I wanted, chunky, heavy and short, they are perfection. I am currently looking for things I can attach to the gold one...

Zara

Even though it is coming into summer and a hat like this one is more likely to keep me warmer rather than cooler, I still couldn't resist is deep mulberry charms. Poor mum had to carry it all the way home so it wouldn't get disfigured. Thanks mum!

Office

Ok, these boots technically belong to mum. BUT I couldn't resist posting a picture because, A. I will most definitely be stealing them on regular occasions and B. They are freaking awesome. (Boy am I glad we share the same shoe size!)
